Bristlecone Law is a civil litigation law firm based in Bend, Oregon, and founded by attorney Christian Malone. We represent individuals, property owners, and businesses throughout Central Oregon in disputes involving real property, real estate, construction defects, contracts, business relationships, estates, and appeals.
Our approach is grounded in a straightforward principle: People First, Lawyer Second. We take the time to understand what is at stake, explain your options clearly, and build a legal strategy around your goals. Whether a matter can be resolved through negotiation or requires litigation, our focus remains the same: helping our clients move forward with confidence.
Legal disputes can threaten your property, business, finances, and peace of mind. When the stakes are high, you deserve honest guidance from a lawyer who will listen carefully, prepare thoroughly, and give you a realistic assessment of the path ahead.
Holding Your Ground reflects how we approach every matter. It does not mean creating unnecessary conflict. It means protecting your interests, recognizing when compromise makes sense, and knowing when it is time to stand firm. From our office in Bend, we help clients throughout Central Oregon navigate difficult legal disputes with practical advice and strategic advocacy.
Christian works with clients at every stage of a conflict, including pre-litigation planning, negotiation, mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal. His goal is not to push every matter toward court, but to identify the approach most likely to protect the client’s position and produce a practical result.
Christian founded Bristlecone Law after more than a decade of practicing with other law firms in Bend. He wanted to build a firm where clients could work directly with their attorney, receive practical legal advice, and feel informed throughout every stage of their case.
That commitment remains at the heart of the law office. Christian stays personally involved from the earliest stages of a dispute through its resolution, giving clients the confidence of knowing the lawyer handling their matter understands the facts, the legal issues, and the client’s priorities.
As Bristlecone Law grows, the firm will continue to emphasize personal attention, careful preparation, and clear communication. Clients should always know which attorney is responsible for their matter and feel comfortable asking questions about the process, the risks, and the available options.
Some disputes can be resolved through negotiation before a lawsuit becomes necessary. Others require mediation, arbitration, trial, or appeal. Mediation is a structured negotiation led by a neutral third party. Arbitration is a private process in which a neutral decision-maker hears the dispute. We explain these options in straightforward language so clients can make informed decisions about how to move forward.
Christian Malone is the founder of Bristlecone Law and an experienced Oregon civil litigation attorney. He has practiced law in Oregon for more than 15 years and has represented individuals and businesses in a wide range of disputes throughout Bend, Deschutes County, and Central Oregon.
Christian began his legal career clerking for the Oregon Supreme Court. That experience strengthened his legal writing, analysis, and understanding of how courts evaluate complex arguments. He later developed a broad civil litigation practice before founding Bristlecone Law.
Clients and referral sources often describe Christian as someone they can trust to listen, speak candidly, and point them in the right direction. His personable but professional approach shapes the culture of the law firm and the way he handles each matter.
Outside his legal work, Christian enjoys playing guitar, writing music, hiking, mountain biking, and exploring the mountains and deserts of Central Oregon and the American West. Civil litigation is the legal process used to resolve noncriminal disputes between people, businesses, organizations, or property owners. A case may involve money, land, construction work, a contract, business ownership, an estate, or another legal obligation.
Christian does not assume every dispute belongs in court. He studies the facts, reviews the applicable law, considers the likely costs, and listens carefully to the client’s priorities before recommending a strategy. When a negotiated solution makes sense, he pursues it. When litigation is necessary, he prepares carefully and advocates firmly.

This practical approach helps clients in Bend and throughout Central Oregon address both the legal and personal consequences of a dispute.
Bristlecone Law handles a focused range of civil matters for individuals, property owners, and businesses throughout Bend, Deschutes County, and the surrounding Central Oregon communities.
Christian assists buyers, sellers, property owners, commercial landlords, and commercial tenants with real estate agreements and litigation. These matters may involve failed sales, undisclosed property conditions, broken purchase agreements, lease disputes, or misrepresentations. Bristlecone Law also helps clients prevent disputes by drafting easements and preparing agreements for certain private real estate transactions, including home sales completed without a real estate agent. This work can give the parties a clear written agreement before money, possession, or property rights change hands.
Property disputes often involve questions about ownership, access, boundaries, easements, title, or the use of land. In real property disputes and ownership conflicts, Christian reviews deeds, surveys, agreements, recorded documents, and other evidence to help clients understand and protect their property rights.
Defective construction can lead to water intrusion, drainage failures, roofing problems, structural damage, and significant repair costs. Christian represents property owners in construction defect matters involving work that may not meet contractual requirements or applicable construction standards.
A contract dispute may arise when one party fails to perform an agreed obligation, disputes the meaning of the agreement, or claims that no enforceable agreement exists. Christian handles contract disputes involving written and oral agreements, purchase contracts, construction agreements, service contracts, and other business or personal arrangements.
Disagreements among partners, members, shareholders, or co-owners can disrupt operations and threaten a company’s future. Christian helps business owners address conflicts between business owners and partners involving control, finances, management decisions, broken agreements, fiduciary duties, and ownership interests.
Some disputes do not fit neatly into one category. Through the firm’s civil litigation practice, Christian evaluates a broad range of claims and helps clients determine whether negotiation, mediation, arbitration, trial, or another approach offers the best path forward.
Disputes involving wills, trusts, beneficiaries, fiduciary duties, or financial exploitation can be legally and emotionally difficult. In contested estate and trust matters, Christian helps clients understand their rights and evaluate available remedies when conflicts arise during the administration of an estate or trust.
An appeal asks a higher court to review whether legal errors affected a lower court’s decision. Appellate work requires careful analysis of the trial record, strong written advocacy, and a clear understanding of appellate procedure. Christian represents clients in selected civil appeals through Bristlecone Law’s appellate practice.
